Why would my usage double?

in Water bills
Just rung to close my account with y/shire water as I am moving. I pay £30 pm for my water and in the past have had money credited back to me when a reading has been done.
I was surprised when the said I had £60 to pay to close my account. I lived in an apartment with my partner. We both work full time. Roughly 2 showers a day, 1 washing up a day, 3 loads of washing a week, bath every now nd then. No garden, dont have dishwasher, dont wash car.
Spoke to 2 neighbours with similar properties who pay about £17 pm. Rung YW up. They agreed that since this January my water usage doubled from 17 units to 35 units. I asked why as there'd been no changes to my living conditions/situation and they said they didn't know. They say it isn't a leak and that the meter was read on October 30th. They acknowledge its unusual but don't know why. Any ideas anyone, I'm racking my brain and can't think why it would change.

How can your supplier possibly know if there is a leak or not?
Do your own flow test to check, you may have a leak between the property and meter.
What similar properties pay has no bearing if metered, they may use much more or less.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
have you double-checked the meter reading?0
