If you both signed the loan documents then the PPI applies to you for death if you were the second named borrower, you need to put a joint complaint in and not singly, this is where the confusion is I think with RBS, contact Direct line and ask who the claim goes to, is it possible your ex has already claimed the PPI back.
  • Hi we both sent a joint letter signed back in October. Direct Line have said I had PPI cover on six loans but he was the main applicant on some and me on the other. I have done an SAR request and some of the info DL hold shows he is the main applicant and I have the PPI cover.

I think one problem is that when we took the first loan out in 1997 my husband was already a DL customer due to having car insurance with them and I think they have seen that when we are trying to claim back the PPI. They seem to think he is the policy holder all the way through even though on two of the loans I have been the main applicant and having the PPI cover. (it still shows on the DL paperwork that my husband is the policy holder) (Does this make sense!!)

He has never claimed the PPI back as we are still married lol!!

Stop phoning them up and send your complaints in.
If you've both signed the forms, they'll send the letters to him probably, but you'll be able to sort it out without talkingt to them that way.

  • Just had a response back from RBS saying they could find no PPI in my name for all six loans. I called Direct Line this afternoon who confirmed over the phone the PPI was in my name. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Who sold you the loan? First, you complain to them. So if it was Direct Line, you complain to Direct Line.

What have RBS got to do with it?

:D:D sorry ! must have had a blonde moment :rotfl:
  • Hi RBS have upheld 2 of the loans which is great news but rejected the other 5. I cannot understand this as they all have the same complaint from me which is pre existing medical condition.

How can they do that. Any advice appreciated

What reasons did they give for rejecting the other loans?
  • That there was no PPI in my name.
