Claiming PPI on a joint loan

Hi I am new to this site and would be grateful for some help please.

I have successfully claimed PPI refunds on a few loans and a credit card which have been in my own name. The question I am asking is can I claim on a joint loan where the PPI was in my name (as they would only let one person have the insurance).

I had the PPI on the joint loans as I had a previous medical condition.

This would need both the people who took the loan to make the claim.

Who was the loan with and why is it only you on the insurance?, the second named borrower is usually only covered for death.
  • Hi we have both sent in a claim. The loans were with Direct Line and each time I was told that only one of us would be insured for accident, sickness etc not both of us. So I was named as the insured as I felt that I was more in need of the insurance as I had a pre existing medical condition. I did find it odd at the time but didnt question.

I have had a direct line PPI claim upheld on a loan of my own but not sure about this

If you had the pre medical conditions, you may not have been covered anyway, see what response they give you to the joint claim you have made.

I made a claim to refund PPI for a loan in joint names with the coop. They were only interested in refunding the money to the account the loan was linked to and didn't ever ask about my exH.

Mind you he had never worked and so never paid a penny towards the loan repayments but if you both contributed then I think it fair to share the refund appropriately

  • Just had a response back from RBS saying they could find no PPI in my name for all six loans. I called Direct Line this afternoon who confirmed over the phone the PPI was in my name. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Who sold you the loan? First, you complain to them. So if it was Direct Line, you complain to Direct Line.

What have RBS got to do with it?

  • Direct Line sold me the loans between 1997 and 2003 and Direct Line transferred all their insurance/loans to RBS in 2005 thats why I wrote to them and my individual loan sold to me by Direct Line was upheld by RBS
  • Can anybody advise on how to start a new thread pls

  • So annoyed RBS said the PPI was not in my name with Direct Line but clearly is as DL confirmed on the phone to me yesterday. and when I ring RBS they will not speak to me as my husband is the main applicant. (even though we sent in a joint letter with signature on) Any advice please?
