to get over the shock of being told your having twins??

Had our first scan this week to be told there was a small surprise and we are actually having twins. Must admit I am still reeling (as is the wife).

Any parents of twins on here got any advice on where to start?? :j

It took me about 2 weeks to stop crying, then another 2 week when I found out they were both boys.

But, by the time they were born I'd got used to the idea. Funny thing is, my side of the family is riddled with twins but it didn't even enter my head that I may have them :o

Five years in my case. Seriously, I was wandering around with my head up my rrse until 7 mths preganant. It was my 1st pregnancy. I had NOTHING prepared. It was only when an experienced mum took me to one side and forced me to take the 2 cots that people offered. I was of the belief that we could muddle through. I'd not bought changing mats, bedding, clothes...anything really. But friends rallied round and I was given loads.
    In reality it constantly changes.
    But twins are the best

My understanding is that they will probably be about a month early and probably tiny so be prepared for them to have to grow into newborn stuff.

OH congratulations! are they going to be identical, mirror, or fraternal? or dont you know yet?
whichever, there is something almost magical about twins! my sis has girl non-identical twins, my son has identical girl twins, my nans mother was an identical twin, my OH has identical twin nephews and my DD would have been a twin but her sis didnt survive.

Be prepared to get treated like a celeb! you will have perfect strangers accosting you with stupid questions like 'Wow, are they twins'? my sis used to reply 'No, its the neighbours kid - strange how they are so alike isnt it'? The babies will have people chatting away to you and fussing over them!

Do enjoy them hun! they will have totally different personalities - and each child is special - but having two at the same time can be er, challenging!
Lol - my twin GDs never seemed to be awake at the same time at first! couldnt decide if it was a blessing or a curse!
congrats again! Thats twice - one for each baby!

My advice would be don't go for any more scans! A relative went up a number each time she went for a scan and ended up with quads.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
