phone legislation on data charges - european legislation austrian phone contract A1
Options
hi i need some legislation on data charges and capping specifically for internet sticks
i live in austria (mived here three years ago with my austro girlfriend ) and its hard for me to trawl through the information and get a straight answer from the company which is A1 austria
( cant link as new user )
also on account block and reactivation charges of which theyve stung me with 50 euro plus tax
im trying to retroactively fight a charge my girlfriends mum got in 2009 ! for an internet stick data charge - it was a 10 gb stick and the data check was faulty and as a whole 3gb was charged at ...600 euro!!
 - her mum died in june 2012 and had a very complicated business account and im stuck with it after stupidly agreeing to carry on my account with A1 after she died ( she just upgraded as well )
i am fighting a block charge after i missed a payment and this data charge
ive written twice and phoned ( rubbish customer service plus it doent help that im not a native speaker ) and visited two shops but received no resolutions
all they offer is a drop down in tarriff :mad:
any advice or legislation links would be brilliant !
thanks alot for reading !:)
ps theres nothing like money saving expert in austria as generally companies arent screwing people over - the banking system is much better

I think a UK board is not really the place to get advice on Austrian legislation. You may be better off finding out if Austria has anything similar to CAB that you can ask. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

whats CAB ?0
-
Citizens Advice Bureau - or maybe Trading Standards - something like that.0

hoping that someone kindly and knowledgeable will point me in the right direction - im a uk citizen living abroad - cant really phone up CAB as the phone bill will be massive - even with skype credit !0

I'm probably going to regret this but here goes :rotfl:im trying to retroactively fight a charge my girlfriends mum got in 2009 ! for an internet stick data charge - it was a 10 gb stick and the data check was faulty and as a whole 3gb was charged at ...600 euro!!
The stick is a dongle ..do you mean it was bought with 10GB of data on it and then it used that up and then used 3gb extra which they want to charge you for @ 200 euro per GBIt's not just about the money0 -
I doubt you'll find any legislation specific to data charges. Your relationship with your network is governed by a contract which is subject to consumer laws such as the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts and soft law from the regulator OFCOM.
The Austrian state of affairsI know nothing about but I'd be surprised if you'll find a Data Charges (Mobile Dongle) Act 2007 - ever, anywhere.
Check your Ts and Cs, email the network, ask for proof etc.0
