Looking to buy sofa for a newbuilt which completes by mid Jan. We prefer Fabric corner sofa and have never bought expensive sofa before. Which one do you guys recommend in terms of build quality? I found Very are cheaper than the other two. Also what's the best time to buy sofa - Before Xmas or after Xmas?

If you want quality, you aint going to get it from them three.
Barker and Stonehouse have a sale on at the moment
What's your budget.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Oh, Ive had a recliner for years, love it.
I'd never be without mine..........
Nearly got the cat a couple of times underneath but for me, perfect. lolmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

My neighbour was an upholsterer, and he thinks at DFS et al you get what you pay for i.e. something that will not last that long. Apparently you need a solid hardwood frame, he says beech, if you want it to last. I bet a lot of the stuff at DFS et al is hardboard, MDF, plastic and maybe pine.
I would search around for any companies that sell direct to the public. Ercol have a factory outlet with some bargains. I know a few furniture companies that do, but they don't make sofas.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
+/-1K. also what do you think about recliners?
If possible stretch your budget to twice that and buy quality that lasts.
You will save in the long run.
If you really can't afford to spend more then consider buying quality used
sofas on Ebay, Gumtree etc and buy new when you can afford it.
Recliners are great if you like them but bear in mind that you usually need more room to accommodate them, they are more expensive and are also prone to failure, especially if from cheap stores such as DFS.0 -
Does it have to be a corner unit? If you consider two sofas and a corner table then someone like M&S may fit the bill. They have 30% off much of their sofa range if you buy any two pieces at the moment. Huge choice of colours and fabrics and they are also made far better than any of the cheap end ones from places like DFS.
Hardwood frames and free delivery and stain treatment all included as well which places like DFS add on along with payment protection etc etc. Also 0% if spending over £1k upto 2 years which I didn't realise until we were in there ordering ours
Just pick one up by the end fom M&S and compare how it lifts to one from DFS and you will see past the fancy fabrics and lovely showroom0 -
CSL, SCS, DFS all very similar set ups in that they have a sale ending "this Sunday" and offer upto 4 years "interest free" (ask for a cash price and see how much you get knocked off to work out how really interest free it is). All charge for delivery per seat, and fabric tretments at uplifted cost and all will try and sell you payment protection. Oh and all will ask you if you would like a free coffee or tea as you wander
You may get a slightly cheaper deal in January sale but as they are always on sale can't really say
If looking at other shops like M&S or John Lewis or genuine independent furniture shops etc you may get some genuine sale items in January0 -
I hate to see CSL lunmped in with DFS. Yes they do have the same promotions etc but the quality is much better.
We have a sofa from both and the quality difference between them is huge.0 -
I can recommend these. I have 2 sofas from them.
