Just to say that for people who work shifts they may not be able to tell you that far in advance. Everyone is expecting answers well in advance.

Some of our guests work shifts - they just booked the date off.

Same with ours - in fact my OH works shifts so it's a pretty big number for us!

Yes some can. However it may not always be possible for various reasons, I'm just making a point not expecting any-one to change things. They may not have holidays remaining and if you have fixed shifts unless you can swap then you may not be able to go.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Linked to daisyegg's post above it can depend a bit what you're doing about the day/evening people. I'm sending all ours at once as I didn't want evening people to feel they were less important or anything, but I did consider sending them later and because of the lack of menu choice requirement they could be left til alot nearer the time :)

I thought it would be better to do it this way than to hand out all invitations at the same time and THEN 'bump up' evening people to daytime! This way if any evening people get 'bumped up' they won't even know it (they are not people who are in the same circles as the original day people so they won't have heard from others that invitations are out earlier). They will just think they are getting an invitation for the first time :)

Makes total sense :) I'm just going to work out how to "bump" when the time comes lol!!

I ama sking for about 6 weeks as i need to pay final balance at venue 4 weeks before so guess they will need to know then.
  • Thanks, I think i will ask for them back 6 weeks before the wedding.
  • For our December 22nd wedding I sent out the day invitations in July and had a reply date of 30th September and then at the end of August I sent teh evening ones out for a return by 30th October. I sent them out quite early because arranging to stay somewhere so close to Christmas and getting time off needs lots of notice. I still found that I had to chase some people just after the reply by dates though.
  • I'm sending mine out with Christmas cards, with an RSVP date of February 1st (for April Wedding.) I know it's a lot in advance, but people are travelling so need to book time off/hotels/trains possibly.

We're not doing day and evening seeing as people have to travel, so the main expense of food is actually in the evening. Because of this I also wanted to have plenty of notice from family, so I can invite more friends if necessary, and still give them plenty of time to sort out travel and accommodation.
