How long before your wedding have you request RVSPs?

I am just creating my wedding invitations for my May 2013 wedding but I am not sure how long before the wedding to request RSVPs? I will be sending the invitations out around late February / early March. How long before the wedding has everyone put as the return date?

I'm sending mine out this week for our wedding in March (so approx 4 months notice) and I'm asking for RSVPS by the end of Jan, so about 2 months.Officially Mrs B as of March 2013

I am going to be asking for them 3 months before, because I am not sending out evening invites until I have all the RSVPs from the day people to allow me to 'bump up' evening people if there is space!0

Our wedding is in June. We aren't really having invites, just inviting people, we'd like to know if they are definately coming about 3 weeks before the wedding.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0

Linked to daisyegg's post above it can depend a bit what you're doing about the day/evening people. I'm sending all ours at once as I didn't want evening people to feel they were less important or anything, but I did consider sending them later and because of the lack of menu choice requirement they could be left til alot nearer the timeOfficially Mrs B as of March 2013

We got married on 15th September and asked for RSVPs by 1st August - I eventually got answers from everybody by 15th August after chasing
Invitations were sent around the beginning of June.0 -
Our wedding was in September.. We sent the invites out in March and asked for RSVP by the end of May, so 3 months before the wedding. Be prepared for people to tell you after the RSVP date though, some people just ignore it lol!Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0

Just to say that for people who work shifts they may not be able to tell you that far in advance. Everyone is expecting answers well in advance.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Mine was only 3 weeks, I didn't think that was too early, but yeah I hadn't thought of shift workers, but trying to think of anyone on shifts... Good point though thanks.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

If someone doesn't reply, I'd take it as a no. I wouldn't chase, so if they then got in touch and said yes I'd have given their place to someone else......Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
