Hi, I have a £45 phone bill which I dont want to pay. Long story short, I was talked into gettin a sim only contract to allow me to upgrade my previous mobile phone for free. I was told "cancel this after the 1st month bill and everything will be fine." they claimed this made phones4u £50 which would pay for my up front cost on my new contract. Anyway.. I forgot to cancel it for over a year (silly I know) and when i eventually cancelled it I have been given a £45 bill. I feel like I have paid enough for a sim card which has never been used and is still wrapped up.
They sent me a letter a while back stating basically "pay now and its only £30" which kind of says to me that I will get away with not paying it.
I have now recieved a Solicitors letter stating if I do not pay within 14 days then they are instructed to issue court proceedings.
What should I do??
Thanks guys.

£30 seems a small amount to have to pay for your own fault.
Far better to pay it than for them to trash your credit history if they haven't done so already. It's not just about the money0 -
Its £45 now... Ive paid over £180 over the year which I know is my fault but it maddens me. Would they really go to court for £45??0

Why not? It's an easy win, and they'll add their costs and reasonable expenses on top.0

My advice is to pay it, I pay £100's a month for bills that I don't want to pay but I still have to.
£30 is not worth trashing your credit history over. It's not Three's fault you forgot to cancel, and unfortuantly it isn't a valid reason now to pay, or to try and claim back charges from them.0 -
Check your credit file NOW. They've probably already defaulted you, in which case having it marked as paid/settled won't really benefit you in any meaningful way.
A contract is something not to be played around with, as the customer invariably has most to lose.0 -
