Where would be the cheapest place to unlock my s2?
I would like it on 02, but everywhere I get a quote is very expensive.

Check ebay. £10-£12 seems to be about the going rate.0

No = you don't have to send your phone anywhere - you send them some details that would include the network that the phone is currently locked to, and the imei number - they then send you the unlock code that the phone will ask you for when you put in a different network's sim card.
Different prices for different phone types - like I said...£10ish seems to be the going rate on ebay. You might find something different of the highstreet, but of course, people are free to charge what they want for the service0 -

I am interested in the process, what do they do for the 10er?
Is there a way to get this code yourself?Life is under no obligation to give us what we expect.0 -
If the phone is rooted there is an app that finds the unlock code within the device. I did it with one of my S2's.0

I personally don't think they do an awful lot for their money - but in fairness - they probably need to purchase software etc etc.
Where there is no physical product for payment, I guess it's a case of charge what they can get away with. If everyone is charging the same, it's a pretty level playing field, so it would depend on one 'supplier' reducing their price and creating competition etc.
As Forwandert has said, there is a way of doing it yourself by rooting the phone, but this obviously is going to depend on your technical ability etc. (and whether you actually want to root the phone in the first place)0
