Went on a short test drive yesterday in one but clutch pedal is very different to my Astra which is a smooth car to drive also it took time to even get to 40mph maybe im not driving it hard enough.
Whats your thoughts ?

Its a little car with a little engine. You need to thrash it to make progress. Of course you dont want to do that to a cold engine so get used to life in the slow lane.
Jump into 20 different Astra's and the clutch will be different in most of them.
Of course driving it hard will see the lower end of the quoted fuel consumption.
Just because the engine is smaller does not mean it uses less fuel. OK mines diesel but i can get better fuel consumption that the Picanto in my Mondeo estate.
Low speed heavy traffic will see the tables reversed though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You probably drove the 1litre one, the 1.2 (4 cylinders) is much more nippy. I get about 50mpg in my eco one. Not had it long enough to see any faults but its a well made, nippy car with £0.oo tax. So far a good buy. As an aside, Birchwood are still doing their £2000 scrappage scheme, well were last time I went passed the showrooms.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Any suggestions for a small 1.25 engine car thats smallish in size and very good on fuel.0 -
Sorry, thought you meant a new one for which the scrappage applies, unfortunately not for pre owned.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I would look at a new car if it wasnt too exspensive after the discount the most cash i could spend is £4000 so i suppose the new car cant cost more than £6000 new and there wont be many that cheap.0 -
Since reading about the Crankshaft Pulley Bolt Failure on picanto cars from 2004/2009 i have gone off picanto now.0
