Some companies (eg. Barclays) send you the card and PIN, and THEN send you a letter saying you've been unsuccessful. How about that for a kick in the nuts?0 -

Because the approval was automatic and done by computer, and when someone viewed your report manually, they didn't like it and overruled the computer.0 -
whats your credit history like? have you got any defaults? do you have a contract mobile phone? Any missed payments?0

Must have a few surely, as they offered the secured card at £200 for a £200 limit. High risk for sure

That isn't silly, If you are taking out the credit card to imrpove your score, then a £200 refundable deposit for a £200 limit is not silly at all.
I had no issue with paying a £200 deposit for the card 4 months ago, I knew my credit history was bad, and I wanted to take the right step to improve it; whether that meant being without £200 for a year or not.0
