Hello all,
I am new to internet domains and to this forum - I may be repeating question(s) that may have been answered elsewhere in this forum. Please excuse the ignorance .
A couple of years ago I registered for both a .co.uk and a .net domain name.
I found the price to be competitive at the time, both costing me total of £22 for a 2 year period.
Recently, I received a renewal request from the ISP from whom I made the purchase. I had expected the renewal fee to be something similar to what I had originally paid (if not cheaper). Instead, they were demanding a price of £70.48 this time around. As these domains were only for personal (non-commercial) use, I have decided to let them go and not paid up the renewal fee. I am now looking to purchase alternative domain names.
Therefore, the questions I would like help in answering are :-
(1) Is this the norm ? ... do resellers/ISPs intially sell dirt cheap, then once the renewal period is up, go to charging a high fee ?
(2) Can anyone recommend any cheap domain name registras ? ... Can I expect to pay a fixed/low annual or bi-annual fee ?
Thanks in advance.

used them for a number of years and found them to be very good. free web redirection and a 'catch-all' mailbox. I use the £20/yr service (http://www.virtualnames.co.uk/lowcosthosting.php3) which I've found to be very good.
UK domains are £8.50 + VAT biennially (every 2 years).Wot, no sig?0 -
I have used freeparking for .co.uk domains and been quite happy. They're not the cheapest but have a good overall balance of prices and flexibility.

Stuartw101,
Have been interested in www.reg-123.co.uk before.
Does the fee remain the same once the intial 2 year period is up for renewal ?0 -
im not sure, although i just got a letter asking for £90 to renew it, but the letter wasn't from reg123 but another company so im not sure if it would be cheaper renewing through reg123 if that is possible? Can you buy more than 2 years that way you wont have to renew as often??0
