PPI claim.... HELP PLEASE

Hi All
Feel a real twit but rang a number regarding a claim I want to make about a cahoot flexi loan and credit card I had some years ago. I thought it was a help line on how to do a claim but ended up letting them do a SAR. They have sent me a form to sign but I haven't done as yet as I wondered if I can just make the claim to cahoot on my own, as I do not want to use this ppi claims firm. If I do go it alone does that mean I will still have to pay them a fee even though I haven't signed the form? Or does it mean I will still have to pay them a fee when they have done the SAR
Hope someone can help

did you give them any credit card details?
If you agreed verbally to let them complain for you, you still have a 14 day cooling off period, so cancel as soon as possible.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Thanks for replying! I did give my credit card details for them to do the SAR only. I will now try and cancel with these now.
Many Thanks0 -
Hi once again sorry but thinking about it I did give them my account numbers on the credit card and flexi loan. They filled the form in over the telephone and now have sent me the paper work to sign, which I have not. So is the 14 day cooling period from when you sign the paperwork or from when you ring and they do the SAR for you. All so confusing!
Hoping you reply as it is 14 days tomorrow from when I rang them.

Ring them, cancel, send a letter as well, dated today, to cancel.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Hi Thanks for reply and advice.
I have written to the company and pre dated it. I also rang them today to cancel it.
I'm hoping that will be the end of that. Just wondered how soon I could chase Cahoot myself and sort my own PPI case, any ideas?
Regards0 -
You can do it as soon as you like, let cahoot know what you have done and you want all correspondence from them to come to you, the claims co cannot do anything without your signature anyway.0

Brilliant! I will do my letter to cahoot tomorrow!
I know it seems a silly question but do I put in the letter that I was about to let a PPI company to do the work but changed my mind?
Thanks for your reply, it gives me great confidence to pursue what I feel is rightly mine.0 -
Hi Good People. Please read my 1st post and 4th post before you read the
ongoing saga.
After finding the certificate and T& C of insurance buried in a drawer, I Phoned Nat West and gave them the document numbers of my original account and the insurance number......suddenly they woke up.They ditched my old complaint and started a fresh one.(i was happy about this as the 1st one was more about NOW
rather than at the point of sale)
I offered to put my complaint in writing, the op said dont bother,we will send you an acknowledgement letter.....3 weeks went by,nothing,I rang again,to be told that my complaint was 3 weeks down the line, given a PPI claims number and the date by which time a response would arrive. I again offered to write my complaint and told the op that I had not received the acknowledgement.Again he did not require a complaint letter.A week before the time was up I got a very low goodwill offer,it only went back to 2003,(when you read the small print)but the date of the offer covered from 1993 onwards.(i actually got the card in 1991)
In the mean time I have asked 3 times now for my original cc application, with T&C,with no joy, they keep sending me an undated letter saying here is your new card sign it(there is no new card in the envelope,I dont need one)
My gut reaction is to go down the FOS route,as this was an opt out ,non cancellable by me policy....it was only cancelable by them.though I did cancel it last year, when I first heard of the PPI miss-sell .Should I go to FOS or write them 1stly my full complaint, as I have not had to pen one single word to date.I can't believe that open accounts don't go back further, where is their back-up system.
Or should I ask for a better offer?
I would very much appreiciate a response if possible by some one,In anticipation....THANK YOU:(0 -
