I have to admit to being somewhat stumped this year. I won't be celebrating Xmas with my 94-year old granny & have no idea what to buy her !
She's pretty much housebound so has no need for things like gloves, scarves etc. She doesn't like choccies/sweets much & has an appetite of a bird. She doesn't read, and I've already bought all of the catherine cookson DVDs etc in previous years !
I'll get some smellies for her as she does use talc & soap, but would like something more thoughtful. Last year I think i did ok, as I bought a multi-aperture picture frame & filled it with old photos of previous years
Anyone help out an increasingly desperate grand-daughter?!

How about a mixture of ladies/gents birthday cards [and maybe a sympathy card or two] with stamps for the envelopes, if she finds it difficult to get out to choose herself?
If she has a freezer, maybe a delivery of ready meals [Wiltshire Farm Foods or similar]
You could always go decadent and get some pretty undies - even at 94, we all feel better with pretty undies.......Virtual sealed pot challenge 2022 # 60 -
I saw a lovely picture of a granny with a gift, it was a scrabble board with all the connected words spelling out her family members name and framed, what about that or a framed family tree? Is she able to write? If so you can get books which ask questions about her life and she fills in the answersBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Does she read any magazines or do any crossword puzzles? You could do a crossword hamper or get her a subscription.
A warmth hamper with a blanket, slippers, hot choccie etc maybeEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -

on a similar theme to the photo frame you made, if she has a DVD player you can make her a photo montage DVD. There are lots of free programmes out there which will animate it for you and you can set it to music. Would be lovely if you could get hold of old photos and do a 'through the ages' kind of thingknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

depending on just how housebound she is this may not work, but could you make her a voucher for an afternoon out? Perhaps see a show and have a light afternoon tea?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

We've got Gran a calendar. We've uploaded lots of pics of the grandkids onto it and then added all the family Birthdays etc onto it. OH loved it so much that I'm doing one for his Grandad this weekend. There are lots of offers on printed calendars at the moment, Vistaprint and Photobox are just 2 that spring to mind.0

I am lucky enough to still have both my Grandmothers. One is nearly 101 years old and the other is nearly 92 years old ! They both live alone in their own houses and whilst they are both (for their ages) well both mentally and physically they don't get out much - and don't really want to. I don't get to see them on Christmas day as they live 'up North' and I live' down South'! I always make up a giant bag full of presents for them - each gift is individually wrapped and a note is put in with each gift. The gifts are usually edible - either naughty (sweets and chocolates etc), useful (tinned soups, tinned ham/salmon etc), funny (Christmas pudding flavour crisps, festive sweets etc) or luxury (booze miniatures or fancy biscuits). The notes I put in with each gift either comment on the reason for choosing the gift - ie - I remember Grandad used to buy her these sweets or remember the time when etc etc. Or I put in a photograph of us together or a funny festive joke - just something a little extra that is very simple but shows an effort has been made and thought given. My grandmothers tend to enjoy opening the presents over a number of days. In fact one grandmother made her bag of presents last from Christmas Eve until New Years day. She loved having a 'lucky dip' each day and particularly liked the notes I included which made reference to my Grandad who died 20 years ago and of course whom she misses like crazy especially at this time of year. Hope this helps0

Some ideas - A nice hamper with mini one portion things in it? a lovely cup and saucer, lap tray, bird table/bird bath, solar lights to brighten up her garden if she has one, an audio book, nice soft throw, nightie, new bedding, teasmaid.0 -
