Well, I finally found the time to pop into my branch today to see why online it said I wasn't eligible for this account and the best they could come up with was because I hadn't paid in £1k for the previous six months...which seems like rubbish to me, as surely they'd rather people not paying in, so they wouldn't have to pay the £5 out?

Anyway, not sure what to do now. I would switch to another bank but at the moment I have a few new DD's being set up and don't want to mess those up until they have started.

Grrrr! I've been with the Halifax since I was born too.
It's taken me a lifetime to start looking after my money and now I'm addicted to doing it! :cool2:

It doesn't make a difference how long you have been with them or who your dad was. No customer is able to upgrade to the Reward account online. Only to the Ultimate Reward account.

Did you ask them when you were in branch if they could do it? It would need to be a banking advisor that actually does it, and there may not have been one free at the time. Or, as others have suggested, why don't you just call them and do it over the phone?

Is it definately a current account you have, and not an easycash or cardcash? If its one of those and they are saying no to an upgrade, then that would be down to account conduct/credit report factors, which would be affecting your internal risk score with them, as they credit check for upgrades from easycash/cardcash to current accounts. If it's just a normal current account you have then there should be no problem upgrading to reward/ultimate reward.

I know and the bit about my dad was a little joke :) It doesn't make it clear online that nobody can upgrade to the reward account online...wish it had!

They said I would need to speak to an advisor (who wasn't there). I will ring them up but I always prefer to do things face to face if possible...I must be old fashioned!

Yes, it is a current account and that was confirmed in branch today. Maybe they didn't like the look of all the money in my savings account and knew that I just wanted to transfer it in and out again :)

I've tried 4 times to get my Easycash account upgraded and its been turned down.

This time i just applied for a brand new Reward account on-line and it went straight through.
