Halifax Reward Account Transfers

Hi All,
This is my first ever post on here, so please be gentle!
I have a question about the Halifax Reward Current account...the one with the £5 reward for paying in £1,000 a month. I pretty sure that transfers from other banks count as "paying in" but are you allowed to transfer the money from another Halifax account and it to be counted as "paying in".
What I would like to do is transfer from my Halifax saving account £1,000 into the current account and then immediately transfer it back into my Halifax savings account and be eligible for the £5 bonus. Is that allowed and does anybody do just that on here?
Many thanks and I hope my question makes sense.

It's taken me a lifetime to start looking after my money and now I'm addicted to doing it! :cool2:

Yes that would work. Me and my husband have a joint reward current accound and 1 each. Each month I cycle £1000 from our joint account through our other accounts just to get £15 a month

Yes its allowed, quite a few people on this forum cycle money and then transfer it back just to get the reward bonus0

Many thanks for your quick replies! Now I just wish I could have multiple accounts!

I've just been online to see if I can upgrade my current account to the Reward Current Account and it tells me its not available to me
The one with the monthly fee is but I'm not that daft!
Has anyone else found its not available to them and know the reason why? Looks like I might have to start looking else where to try and get some return on my current account. It's taken me a lifetime to start looking after my money and now I'm addicted to doing it! :cool2:0 -

Give them a ring instead. Should be able to upgrade you straight away over the phone.0 -

Try giving them a call and see if they can upgrade you to the reward account, make sure they don't upgrade you to the ultimate rewards as you'll pay for that and not get the £5.
If you don't want to give them a call then pop into a branch and see if your account can be upgraded or a new rewards account opened. If they open a new rewards account just transfer £1k from your other accounts (can be a Halifax Account) and they will pay the £5.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

I *think* you can. DH's current account is with Halifax, as is our household bills account. We definitely get £5 on the household account and I believe he does on his current account, I'll check with him later & update!0 -
You can have more than one account, though I think there being strict on the Rewards Account.
With Halifax I have:
1 Easycash Account which is my Direct Debit account / Booking Flights as it has Visa Electron.
1 Ultimate rewards account which is my Spending Account.
1 Rewards Account, Just to Get the £5
1 Current Account for internet shopping (as it never has in it more than I'm going to spend)Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Thanks everyone for the new replies. I will pop in either tomorrow or next week and see what they say. Maybe I can play my trump card that my dad used to be manager of this branch! :rotfl:It's taken me a lifetime to start looking after my money and now I'm addicted to doing it! :cool2:0
