Hi All
We have finally decided against buying the windows and doors from Safestyle and we called up to cancel the contract, only to be told we are out of Cancellation Period
Date of events:
Also the price was agreed a combined price for both windows and doors, and the salesman just split the prices for the paperwork.
Any suggestions?
We are quite happy for them to keep the survey fee etc.
Need any advice fast!
Marie
We have finally decided against buying the windows and doors from Safestyle and we called up to cancel the contract, only to be told we are out of Cancellation Period
Date of events:
- Visit - Monday 05.11.2012 & survey fee paid of £60
- Survey - Thurs 08.11.2012 - Composite door could not be fitted, so waiting for a revised price.
- Called - Saturday 17.11.2012 to cancel, as found a company who could do the work from inside, rather than via scaffolding
- SS - agreed to cancel the door contract
- SS - NOT agreed to cancel windows contact as beyond 7 days.
- SS - giving us 24 hours notice to decide, or we will be taken to court.
Also the price was agreed a combined price for both windows and doors, and the salesman just split the prices for the paperwork.
Any suggestions?

Only finance agreements are 14 days .therefore if you are taking finance with them then you have 14 days if not then you have signed a contract which it is presumed you have read before signingif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

Hi
So they never gave you the revised price after the survey?
I can't see how they can hold you to a contract that they haven't given you a final price for.
It all seems a bit one sided to me, surely the first contract is not valid as it included doors that were not suitable. You then gave them more than 7 days to get back to you with a revised price and amended contract - they didn't get this to you so therefore you are going elsewhere.
Good luck with it anyway.

I didnt even enter into a contract with safestyle...but 7 months on they are still hounding me to tell them what I thought about the quote they gave...we didnt even get that far...we have subsequently got new windows and doors fitted by someone else but they still persist with further calls ....at one point it was daily but that has subsided now but still cant quite get rid of them...down to about twice a month now
I feel very sorry for you OP...They are not an easy company...or particularly fair company to deal with in my opinion...
Best of luckfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
The final combined price of £3k, was split between the 2 contracts, and therefore even if we were waiting for a revised quote for the door, the window contract still stood.
Spoken to insurance helpline, and they said because of the 14 days repeatively said during the interview:
"lack of reasonable care and skill, which misrepresented SS to us by fauduently or neglently by describing 14 days, rather than the 7 days notice on teh contract. We relied on his information to our detriment. And therefore, we are cancelling the contract on this basis."
What do you think?0 -
I think you will struggle due to the fact that there is half page document on the contract you have signed explaining your rights ive seen there contracts many times i have even rang them up on behalf of customers they wont let it go easilyif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0
