Magnetic Filters on boilers

I recently had a powerflush from central heating flush. I was advised that it may be good to have a magnetic filter installed, however after paying 200 quid for a 7 radiator powerflush im not sure if it is worth it. Apparently it lasts a life time and it prevents me from needed a power flush again
Has anyone else had a powerflush or magnaclean filter installed?
And how much did you pay for your magnaclean filter filter?
I mean the job was good, my heating is working properly again do you think the powerflush will last or should I install a magnaclean filter?
Thanks in advance guys you have been helpful thus far.

My understanding is they are two different animals.
A power flush is designed to remove sludge and built up grime in the system to improve performance.
The MagnaClean type inline filters are supposed to pick up debris coming off the radiators and stop them getting into the heat exchanger on the boiler.
One is a solution to a problem the other is more an ongoing maintenance device.
Costs:-
I've seen about £350 quoted for a 10 system flush (takes most of a day).
Magna clean as a one off supply and fit most places quote about £175 to £200 or so.
I've had both done recently but that was as part of a full boiler replacement so i got the Magnetic Cleaner pretty much at supply cost.
I'm not sure I'd pay for it as a one off install, to be honest, but as part of a boiler replacement then it was worth a punt.0 -
thanks for your helps guys, i ended up getting it they gave it to me for discount for £120 for the filter and installation since i had previously done a powerflush with them.0

Similar to alleycat we had one installed when we had the new boiler fitted and as such it only added about £80-100 to the job.
It's a relatively simple and quick job to clean it out once a year and gives me peace of mind that the crud it collects has not found it's way into the boiler/heat exchanger.0 -
The filter is a must in my opinion, when flushing a system out you can never get all the muck out and fitting a filter will catch whats still in the system.X British Gas engineer and X BG sales adviser.
Please don,t let this put you off.0
