Hi all,

I am not sure whether it's the right place to post this, I am looking for an android phone under £200 for my OH. There are so many different at the market but I don't know which is the best one!

Any advice/suggestions??

Thanks

  • It could be worth considering the htc one v or the sony ericsson xperia sola. They are probably two of the better Android phones (imho) for that price.

Save yourself £134 and get the Huawei G300 :D You could buy the superb Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" tablet with the difference and STILL have £15 left!

    440x330-huawei-ascend-g300-front.jpg + jrv1tab-2-7.0-lede-copy.jpg = £185!

I got a nice white T mobile Vivacity. After unlocking, rooting and changing the rom, it has morphed into a beautiful ZTE crescent.:T

    Cost £49. Why pay more?

What do the more expensive ones have that these don't? (other than paying for brand names like Iphone).

Good, if you can find one now.....
  • NEXUS 4 is worth £39 extra top of the range phone heavily subsidised by google yours for £239 sold out at present but be back in stock soon, £239 for a phone equal to if not better than Samsung galaxy SIII and Iphone 5 BARGAIN hence sold out in first hour of release!

Speed, better camera, "quality", storage, better screen. Apart from that, nothing to warrant the extra cost if you are on a budget.

Look at the specs, check if you can add a storage card as well, make sure it's an Android as well.
  • I think the Lumia 800 deserves a shout here. I think it's available for around £150. Seriously solid construction, brilliant screen and a high quality camera.

Windows phone isn't to everyone's taste but I'd take a windows phone over a budget android anyway.

Nexus 4 is a marvel no mistake, an explosion of hi-tec bits crammed in it for an unbelievable price... but its over 5¼" long! I couldn't use that as my daily phone its just too bulky and wouldn't survive long, its basically a tablet, that can make calls!

Is it even 'apart from that' though?

    Take the budget G300..

    1GHz, 5MP camera with flash, Gorilla glass, 4Gb +sd card memory, 4" 480 x 800 screen 233 ppi pixel density

You have to go a way into the HTC range to get all that even, certainly costing a lot more.
