Parcel delivered to billing address

Just wanted to check where I stand on this ...
I ordered a gift online and used separate billing and shipping addresses. The company has wrongly sent the parcel to the billing address, and the person for whom the gift was for picked it up and now knows what is inside (it's obvious from the return address). So the element of surprise has now gone.
I haven't contacted them yet, but my suggestion would be that I just send it straight back and they refund my money. The large stamp on the parcel has not been franked - so it should get back to them, shouldn't it?
Also, would you expect a company to use second-hand boxes? It was originally used for nail varnish, it clearly states this on the side of the box, and the box is so battered and taped up I can't even get into it without wrecking the box - which I don't want to do if I'm going to send it back.

Is the other person that bothered that the gift arrived early ?I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

It was a surprise gift. If they knew about the gift then it would be fine, but they didn't, so yes they are a bit miffed0

was it your 1st order with them?0

Many co's will only send 1st order to billing address. As a security measure.
Did you check that the co would send to a diffrent address, other than entering a shipping address?Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

There's nothing on the site that says this, and I've never had that problem with other companies (didn't even know that happened, in fact).
On the form they have a section for billing address and a section for shipping. I filled them both out correctly.
On the T&Cs I've just noticed that they state a small charge is included in the shipping rate for packaging .... second-hand packaging ... ?:undecided0 -
When I first started using eBay and PayPal the first couple of transactions on my account showed my address as being unconfirmed.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

But it's not a new Paypal account. It's the first transaction with the particular company, but not the first transaction with paypal. As I say, I've never had this problem before and have sent many parcels to a different shipping address (and most of those were first transactions with companies, some even smaller than the one in question).0

Ok I may be a bit thick here .. If they sent it to the billing address would that not be your address ?I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0
