The stuff I get is addressed to the house holder with no address printed on it. I have always assumed it just gets sent in bulk to the royal mail sorting office who just add one to each persons mail on the round with the other post.

Perhaps time to take up a hobby, to keep the mind occupied and to stop fretting over trivia.

There is a simple answer to this.

Royal Mail get paid for delivering this rubbish so if everyone stuffed it back in the Post Box and it starts costing them money to separate it at the sorting office they will have to re-think their methods .
  • First world problems, really.

Just stick it in the recycling bin and stop worrying about it.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • As long as we put up with it they will keep sending them.

Exactly! What else were you going to do with the 30 seconds of your life it takes to put it in the recycling?

If Virgin want to waste their money like this, let them. It's going to be keeping someone somewher in a job. At the same time it props up Royal Mail a bit (remember how !!!!ed off everyone is when stamps go up?), and if memory serves, gives the Postman a few quid more at the end of the month for doing door-to-doors.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
  • They investigated this just about 30 mins ago on Watchdog Daily on BBC1. Not much can be done really.
  • I read recently that a lot of the paper collected cant be recycled it ends up on landfill sites.
So it may give the postman a few bob but it's costing the tax payer

Who then pay the postman. It's no secret that there would be far fewer postmen doing the rounds if junk mail was made illegal.
My own postman said that he could complete his round in a couple of hours if it was not for all the junk.
