    Depends how benevolent you are feeling. I had 2 gas fires needing attention after exchange, as it was the depths of winter 2010 and my buyers had 3 children I got them fixed before completion. What goes around comes around. Hopefully!

    sorry my mistake, it's not stand alone but one of these electric panel heaters

    As my previous reply - I hardly think the buyers will take legal action over a £100 unit - it will cost them that for a solicitors letter!

    In the scheme of things involving a house purchase its an inconsequential amount and a trivial matter.

    Could always google the model number and basic words which might flag up on other posts to see if there's a fix mentioned online. Someone's bound to have incurred the same problem.

    There's not a lot can go wrong with them surely?

    * some bricks (or whatever) to hold the heat
    * a thermostat
    * a heating element of some kind
    * an electricity supply

    The most costly part would be labour.

    Which is why there might be a common problem, maybe with an online fix - or at least knowledge of what the problem is so they can just instruct an engineer with a pretty good idea of what the problem is - that's got to help with labour costs, surely...

    God, I hate storage heaters...

  • Hi,

    this is not a storage heater, it is a panel heater which only emits heat when switched on, like a convector heater.

    OP, was heater working until recently?

    Fully programmable 24/7 day digital timer, with auto on, auto off and manual modes.

    Have you checked settings and timer, and fuse would be the first thing.
  • Worked fine, then stopped using it in april because it was warm enough. Turned it on in October when it started to be chilly and no heat.

    We corrected the time, turned it on to manual mode which should mean when we turn it on the heat comes on. Not checked fuse, will try to find where I can access that.
