Had car accident and don't understand excess

Hi,
Unfortunately I had a small accident that was not my fault - other driver accepted responsibility.
If I make a claim do I still pay the excess? Or is that fully recovered by the other insurer?

If your claiming from your insurance you pay the excess and they then claim it back from the person at fault.
If they admit fault and their insurance agree then contact their insurance and do it yourself.
Just tell your insurers someone hot your vehicle and they are paying out/ For information only.. Not a claim.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The guy at fault has called me and asked if I can get it done through the local garage...the problem is I don't have time to do that and get a quote. Also my insurers provide me with a replacement car whilst its fixed..but feeling bad for the other driver who caused the accident as his insurance will be hit next year

Don't feel too bad - he clearly wants to get it done on the cheap and won't be happy to pay your replacement car costs himself.
He can reimburse his insurer whatever his negligence costs them and get his NCD reimbursed.
You could avoid claiming off your own policy and having the hassle of having to pay and reclaim your excess by approaching the third party insurer and asking them if they have an innocent third party claim department to deal direct with you.
If they do, then you can get the car repaired at your choice of garage, and they will supply you with a replacement car. And no excess to pay!0 -
Bad news...the guy has not admitted fault to his insurance company and I am already out of pocket by £350 for excess.
What are my options? Can I take him to small claims - my insurers are doing their bit and are asking for diagrams from me.
I will submit those no problem.
We spoke a while on the phone where he asked if I could go to a garage instead. Can I get that conversation from my phone company or is that not possible?0 -
Your excess is an uninsured cost which you should claim back yourself off the third party. (It seems you claimed off your own policy after all)
If you have legal expenses cover use that to do it for you, otherwise you need to diy.0 -
Although the excess is an uninsured loss, the OP's insurer will in all likelihood treat it as an insured loss, and look to recover it along with their outlays, using legal proceedings instructed by the insurer if needed and there is a good chance of success.0

your inusrer will calim itback and when its is all settled assuming it ends in your favour they will send you your excess back.
also more bad news sorry but this accident even though not your fault will make your insuance go up a bit next year also. as statiscally once you have had a claim you more likely to have another.0 -

Do you have an agreement with your phone company whereby they record all your calls? Or do you just expect that they do this as a matter of course?0 -

I didn't expect anything....hence the question mark.
I was wondering if others had any knowledge of keeping record of conversations or even just a record that a call to or from a number has been made.

Can I take him to small claims court for causing this increase in price?0
