Hermes delivered an ASOS parcel by "throwing it over the side garden fence" as they told ASOS when I said it had never been delivered...since my house almost touches next door there are no side garden fences whatsoever. Eventually a courier sheepishly delivered it, the box was all mashed up and looked frankly like it had been lobbed over someone elses' garden fence and then retrieved! What annoyed me was I had to prove I was just making the whole thing up to keep the goods.

why do big companies like Amazon continue to use firms like Hermes?
There's only one reason, they're cheap.

I'd say that 90-95% of the time they're perfect, it's when they go wrong and start lying about what the problem is. I perfectly understand when some courier drivers won't drive a few extra miles or down a dodgy looking road for the sake of earning a few pence, if they could just be honest about it it would save problems all round.

  • They keep saying courier to re-attempt but he doesn't even come in the first place. I waited in 2 days last week and nothing finally I called Matalan as I had no e-mail reply from 5 e-mails and Hermes won't help customers he came 3rd day and chucked the stuff round the back. Lucky it wasn't stolen. This week a jumper from House of fraser and guess who hasn't turned up again? Hermes!!! They are the worst company I have even known. I've never had any problems from any other delivery company.

I have just had official confirmation from Hermes that they will not deliver to unmade roads. If that is their company policy then surely they should advertise it, it is nothing short of fraud to accept parcels for delivery to roads like that and then refuse to deliver them.
  • I ordered a car seat via Boots.com last week as it was on offer in one of their promotions - this was a car seat for a disabled child that an organisation I am involved in was donating as part of our Christmas support in our local community. All good so far until they used Hermes to deliver it! It was due on Monday between 8am & 9pm - nothing turned up. Phoned Boots on Tuesday morning - apparently it had been reallocated as the original van wasn't big ebough to fit it into (???). Nothing arrived on Tuesday so rang again Wednesday to be told that Hermes have lost the item..... As the seat is suitable up to age 11 I am struggling to see how they have lost it as its in a pretty big box. Only problem now is Boots have no more stock..... Contacted Britax direct & they want me to pay more than £200 more for the same seat even though I explained the circumstances.
All in all not very impressed by Boots, Hermes & Britax.
Have since found a small company who are looking to see if they can get one for me & at a good price.
Fingers crossed we can help this family in need of assistance particularly at this time of year
