Vodafone has put someone else debt on my name
Options
Hi
Looking for some advise as I dont know how to solve this problem
A few weeks ago I recieve a letter from a debit company asking for payment for a vodafone account
I phoned them to explain I do not have an account with vodafone- when they asked my date of birth when I gave them mine they said sorry they had the wrong person- I ask for name etc to be removed off there system and didnt really think much more about it
Over the weekend I did a credit check on myself- on doing this I discovered that Vodafone had put a default on my name for £52- when I look into in more they had my name, someone elses address and someone elses date of birth
Ive contact vodafone today -who say because it not my postcode they basically cant do anything about it ??
just dont understand how this can go on my credit check if the address & date of birth is wrong
any help would be great

Here is a Telegraph article about this sort of problem.

No problem. Contact the CRA that shows the wrong information, and advise them you have spoken to their client to clarify the issue, and they refuse to remove the erroneous info.
You now require them (the CRA) to remove the incorrect info within 28 days, or you will raise a formal complaint with the ICO.
That should get things moving.0 -
Hi htfc1908,
I will be happy to look into this further for you.
Can you send all the details you have, including a link to this post via the information here with WRT135 FAO Lee/Heidi in the subject line.
We will then track down any information we may have on record with your details.
Thanks,
Heidi
