Sitting here feeling really down. As you know I care for my Mum and she is quite difficult. Now she finally agreed a few weeks ago to have some care from an agency as she need help washing and dressing. I dont mind helping her dress but dont really want to wash her ( does that sound mean?). Anyway got the agency started and at the meeting a 10.00a.m. call time was suggested but Mum said 10.30 to 11.00 a.m. It worked ok for the first 2 weeks and they came and showered and dressed her. However if they offered to make a cup of t or brush her hair she just said no my daughter will do it when she comes later. But they were good and suggested she needed cream on her legs ( which we had in the cupboard anyway) and when I read the notes all seemed well.
But after Sunday last week she got herself up and dressed before they came ( and said she had washed - but I know she had not) so basically they care coming for nothing. Now a couple of times they have been late ( due to weather I presume) and she is now moaning and saying she wants to cancel it. When I said that maybe an earlier start was needed she just told me it was non of my business.
I am living on carer's allowance and a bit of money from her and am struggling and for what. Both my sisters and one brother are away either working or on holiday and the other one only bothers with her when he needs money.
I usually go 2 or 3 times a day, do housework, sort her meals, all her paperwork, all the washing, take her to appts etc.
When I told her I was off out shopping she just said " Of course you are!". She is not mobile and we have to use a wheelchair when she goes out and my shopping trips are my escape. Am I being selfish. Dont know what to do and I have no one to talk to. My DD and OH are kind of sick of the whole thing as it seems to be swallowing my life and after I just seemed to get some life of my own when OH left and sorted himself out it seems to be going pearshaped again.

    Hey :) xxx

My mum use to be on carers and i think she only got around £70 a week for it so if your in the same situation its very tough.

The carers that are coming around, your mum doesnt seem to like them very much, maybe she feels embarrassed having strangers coming to see her when shes not "decent". Maybe shes upset by the fact she cant do all these things by herself anymore like she use to.
Or have you considered the carers aren't all that nice to her?
When i was a HV we never had any problems with our patients they all loved us but my friend is a carer in an actual home and she is always reporting people for neglect, not in the worst ways imaginable just things like being asked for a cup of tea and being told to make it themselves etc.
I knwo its not something you can just accuse people of but maybe they are very busy and without realizing it they are sometimes ignoring her hints or requests and she doesn't like being made to feel like a burden.
I use to look after some people and they were terminally ill/had health issues/ mental health issues and the amount of them that had nobody was staggering! She is very lucky to have you and you sound like you put up with a lot that most wouldn't especially from the brothers/sisters.
I remember you saying your brother was a bit of a nasty person when it came to money, have you considered he is trying to force your mum to give up the care if your not being funded by SS?
So many times before you have spoken about your mother and this seems out of character from how you normally speak of her.
Maybe something is upsetting her and she doesn't know if you will believe her/understand.
I think when people accept they need care wether it is to their home or movig into a home they are bound to have tough patches at first, its a huge adjustment realising your not as young/able as you use to be. May just take a bit more time?

i really hope things start getting better for you you seem to have nothing but poo thrown at you lately!

    xxxxx

Edit: please dont feel guilty about stealing a few moments to go shopping, and please look after yourself the last thing you or anybody needs is you ending up in hospital with exhaustion, you have to remember you are only human, you cant do it all, and nobody can expect you to be able to xxxxx
You can't make someone love you. All you can do is
stalk them & hope they panic & give in

Please may i ask if any alessi regulars know how much it would cost for an alessi set with or without a £5 off conditional spend

    Hi celebrate.

Not sure this answers your question but just bought a bottle of teachers £12 and a set of alessi teaspoons.
Handed over a £5 off £40 spend and paid £11.49 in total.

Will make no sense to anyone except aau1:)

Now I'm just wondering if I really needed the teaspoons:)

Yes I am feeling the pressure a lot. I am not sleeping well and have a stomach disorder that flares up if I am under pressure. Still XMAS on the way and thanks to MSE I have some lovely cheap pressies organised and then off to Lisbon for 4 days in Jan with my 2 sisters to celebrate my youngest sisters bday. Mum is unhappy about that too even though my Aunt will probably come to stay with her.

Oh rose, I often wondering how you are getting on and so pleased you can look forward to the positive stuff too. Best wishes:)
