Comfort plus white meter tariff - I don't have storage heaters.

The washing machine
The washing machine heats it's own Hot Water when it needs it for the wash cycle, but at the end of the wash it will run through several rinse cycles useing cold water only.
The Immersion heated Hot Water cylinder
To establish wether this or the boiler is is providing Hot water, or perhaps both, switch off the power to the cylinder, and leave it off. Keep useing your hot taps as normal and if the the water eventually goes cold with the cylinder also being cold at the the top, your hot water is entirely dependant on the cylinder
If with a cold cylinder your taps are still producing warm water, the boiler is producing it
Luke warm water from the boiler
You don't mention the performance of the Central Heating, so it would seem that this is OK - Hot central heating with only warm water from the taps indicates a boiler problem - Maybe the Diverter Valve - Call in a local Gas Safe engineer.0 -
That's incorrect David.
Dual MPAN metering exists all over the country.
You are misadvising this customer that a dual MPAN meter can't be supplied by any other supplier. I suggest you alter this.
Comfort Plus is supported by at least one other supplier that I know of.
Who?
Attempting to switch supplier when you have this type of supply invariably ends in tears as has been shown numerous times on this very board.0 -

Any supplier who has a billing system that supports dual MPAN's can support this. So, that opens up EMEB, NEEB, HYDE, SWEB, SOUT, LOND, EELC, regions, etc.
They only then need a price. Npower (one of their old host regions being NEEB) have active customers on lots of dual MPAN metering, not just their NEEB Superdeal and they did have a Comfort Plus tariff.
The problem is that they all try to avoid taking these more complex tariffs. Suppliers are discriminating against these customers and its about time Ofgem did something afterall, all these suppliers can registers all types of metering as required by the BSC.
Yes, they often end in tears as do E10 and its variants.
However, David can't make a claim that only his company are willing to supply this customer. Has David been issued a statement from all the other suppliers or Ofgem to confirm that?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
[Deleted User] wrote:Hi,
there is Comfort Plus White Meter which is three rate, and Comfort Plus Control which is two rate, if that makes any difference, OP has White Meter.
I read it as SP rep advising OP that as he has CPWM, he couldn't swap.
David states it cannot be supplied by other suppliers due to being a domestic customer with dual MPAN's.
That's not the case, or do Heatwise, Warmwise, E10 3 rate, E9 (LOND), Superdeal, Flexiheat, THTC, etc...not exist in different regions to SPOW? These are all dual MPAN.
Don't forget that before E7, there was standard + off peak metering with 2 MPAN's.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I am one the ScottishPower company reps on this forum and having read through the various comments, all of which are very valuable, I think it would probably be be better to speak directly to Calum over the phone to discuss his requirements. Calum if you can email onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com David or I will pick up and call you. Regards Gerry“Official Company Representative

I think our aim here should be to provide help to those that seek it, rather than rip into those that are taking their time & effort to provide it.
As you appear to agree that anyone on this type of tariff attempting to switch supplier will often end up in tears, then lets agree that the OP should not even attempt to do so ... at least not until they take up the offer of Scottish Power rep to change the meter (if possible) to one that allows free & easy switching to alternative suppliers (if that is the desire of the OP)0 -

I don't think recommending a rep alter their post to reflect correct information is "ripping" into someone. Would you rather incorrect information be posted by suppliers aimed at their preferred action when the customer has other alternatives?
I don't agree that it should simply be a change. Its worth asking the other suppliers if they are selling in this tariff.
If that turns up nothing then they can either ask Ofgem why they are allowing suppliers to reinstate the old regional boundaries or change the meter.
If the usage justifies the change, then its worth it...otherwise its not worth diving in.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

But are you the only available supplier to support this type of meter as stated?
The OP definitely needs your help in more detail but we do need to ensure we get accurate information on here, at the least for future posters.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
But are you the only available supplier to support this type of meter as stated?
For all intents and purposes as far as the OP is concerned, YES!
That may not be the theoretically correct, or regulatory correct, answer, but as far as good advice to the OP is concerned it's the best answer
As I have said, and you have acknowledged, anyone currently on this type of tariff that attempts to switch supplier invariably ends up in tears.0 -
Whether or not other suppliers are willing to take on domestic 2-MPAN sites is for them to decide or comment. In my experience I've never seen a successful 2-MPAN domestic switch. Unless another supplier requests both MPANs at exactly the same time we will object due to multi-MPAN site with only one MPAN being requested. This is why most requests fail.
