Vodafone PAC code/retention team questions

Options
Hi,

A couple of questions about getting a better deal from Vodafone retention team if anyone is able to answer them for me -

I am coming up to the end of a 2 year contract, with about 6 weeks left, and looking to get either an iPhone or Galaxy S3. Don't want to pay what the website is asking, and I have seen some people on here have had great deals.

Firstly, when should I ask for my PAC code? I know it only lasts for 30 days, but if I ask for it now will that spur the retention team into action or will I just be wasting an opertunity?

Secondly, how many times does it usually take for the retention team to phone you before you get the deal you want?

Thanks

You're unlikely to get any good deals now, as you are still 6 weeks from the end of your term. Not only that, but although you can use your PAC code early, you remain liable for the rest of your contract so would still have to pay for the remaining 6 weeks and possibly a cancellation fee.

You can request your PAC code when you have 30 days left on your contract, and you would most likely get offered a better deal then. Saying no and taking the PAC code but not using it straight away may result in retentions calling you with a better deal but there is no guarantee. They may call 2 or 3 times or they may never call.

Also bear in mind that retentions will only call you if you're a customer worth retaining.
So if, for example, your plan price is £20 a month and you never go over that, then they make no profit from you. So they'll just give you your pac and wave goodbye.
All retention deals are based on customer worth, and just because one person has got a great deal doesn't mean that everyone will (but its always worth trying!)...
