Hopefully though I wont pay too much tax, but does the DWP do all this for you!!??
Just to clarify - cb ESA is taxable, but so is IB. But provided your total taxable income, including ESA, is below your personal tax allowance (£8,105 this year) you will not actually pay any tax.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Well done Mumz, I've been following your story and I'm really pleased there's been a good outcome for you.0

Ok Mumz, I'm going to say this in the nicest possible way before someone says it more rudely...
Don't forget about finding employment in future.
It's great that you have more time to prepare, and can get a bit better first without being hassled by the DWP. I know how horrible it is to fear being 'thrown in the deep end' on JSA and finding work when you're not ready.
However, the government are cutting benefits all over the place, so benefits for ill-health are by no means guranteed for ever. Tightening criteria, smaller amounts of money, this sort of thing is likely to happen if the current government get their way. I'm in the same boat as you at present, and I'm terrified of going back to work. But am using this time to try and get a bit better and look into my options.
You may be able to do some training/college courses that interest you, this sort of thing. Even something that's not relevant to employment but is just an interest and helps you get used to a timetable (I know this one can be hard after time off sick!)
Also, now is the time to push for MH treatment - believe me it's much nicer being better and working than being unwell but getting benefits!! Have a look on google to find out the sort of treatment recommended for your diagnosis, so you know where to start/what you're entitled to.
Good luck with it all and here's to a bright future and discovering hidden talent/skills you can use in future! (ooh bit cheesy!) :beer:0 -
It's a shame your other thread ended up in DT. Was it really a topic for discussion, or more appropriate for the benefits board? If someone is that ill, they can't cope with DT.
Anyway, hope things work out for you.Fred - Where's your get up and go?
Barney - It just got up and went.
