Mobile Broadband verses landline

I am moving house to Yorkshire next month.Unfortuantly our new home is rural and we can only get a BT line which may only provide appox 1MB of braoadband.

Currently have virgin which should be giving me 30MB.Unfortuantly no one can offer cable at new address.

I have never used a mobile broadband product. Are they any good and how do they compare to fixed line.

For info, I only use my BB for browsing and e mail. No game use but would like a bit of speed for browsing

Thanks

Start with an exchange search on www.samknows.com
BT is not your only supplier option, even if the line is a BT Wholesale one: there are dozens of resllers. Any LLU options?
Mobile broadband is rarely an adequate substitute for ADSL broadband, and there may well be no 3G service at the location anyway if very rural-lots of areas have no coverage.
If you do go with wireless BB, what matters is which network provides a decent signal at the property, all else is secondary.
Your other option is internet via a local wireless network, or satellite broadband.

it's not a BT line as such, if you have a phoneline you can change it to who ever you want.

Check to see if you can get EE, phoneline and unlimited broadband for £16,50.

Check samknows site, and it will tell you who has services from your local telephone exchange, if you can't work it out, just ring up a few of the better deals on offer, or check on their site and they will tell you if their service is available to you and what the cost is, if they don't have their equipment at your local exchsange then the price goes up as they then need to buy the service from someone who has then resell it to you, which works out more, so it's nearly aways best to see who is at your exchange and buy direct from them.

forget about mobile for your home, it's expensive, a landline is much better. Mobile can be an option but you need to check if you can even get a signal in your house.

here is the link to the EE deal http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/buy/ee/?_cid=67018959
  • I got rid of my landline a while back. I have been using Three mobile broadband only for more than 4 years now. I get prepaid SIMs from eBay. I don't download films and music and don't play games. I don't need very high speed and on the whole the service is good.

I have an holiday home and the mobile broadband is quite fast - but expensive if you want more than just browsing.

Three mobile phones alllow tethering for £25 a month with unlimited data. Worth a look.

£16.50 if Orange, EE or T-mobile customer or £19 if not.

If not a customer, buy or get a free payg sim, then you will be a customer.
