Fixed price query

I have just listed my first item under fixed price on ebay a few hours ago. I have listed it with fixed price and open to offers. I have been offered by 2 people the fixed price. How should I decide who to pick. The first offered a lower price but increased it to the offer price. The 2nd person asked what is the best price if they offer cash on collection. Should you look at the buyers score.

Thanks

I'm confused - they have offered the full price? Why didn't they just buy it?

Anyway - check feedback they have left for others. It can tell a story. Ive just had one - his feedback shows several items refunded in recent weeks. Blocked him now.
  • If they are offering the full fixed price - I assume you mean the Buy it Now - then they need to put their money where their mouths are and pay for it.
Unless you are offering "free" P&P, i.e. paying for it yourself out of the final price, there is no real reason to make the collection price any less - if you only listed it a few hours ago you have a popular (and perhaps under priced?) item and you will probably have more offers if these ones don't feel right to you. Still a few more hours of the free listing weekend to go...

No the first one didn't at first but then sent me a message saying they would offer more. The 2nd asked how much if offered cash. So I replied to them that I had been offered the asking price. So both only offered in message not in actual offer. Good point about feedback, I will have a look now
  • Just had offer for full price from another person. Worth hanging on.

I am very confused- are you sure you have a fixed price auction? Why would anyone offer full price and not just BIN it?

I don't know. Maybe as I have asked for cash on collection but they could still click the buy it now button I suppose. If they give me the cash am I naughty if I just remove the sale from eBay. I know people do it but I am not sure if this is a good thing to do. But until anyone does click on the buy it now I suppose I should keep it listed in case they don't turn up. I have had another asking where I am located and is interested in buying it. I don't want to put them off but do I hold any loyalty to the first person that said they will come tomorrow and pick it up.

You can tell I haven't done this before

why not remove buy it now and put it to auction, using the original buy it now price for the start of the auction, but not sure if you are allowed to do that
  • I would tell people if they want it they should click the buy it now, otherwise you could agree to sell to one person then someone else clicks BIN and could end up leaving you bad feedback when you tell them the item is no longer available.

I know I don't know the etiquette with things like this either. I didn't put it up for auction as sometimes things go for very low prices and I would rather relist it again if I got no interest the first time. But it has had a lot of interest so maybe I should have done that. I could email the 2nd person and say that they are my reserve. For all I know they could be watching several of these things and seeing what they can get for the best price

I have seen auctions where the listing states that "this item is advertised elsewhere and I will end this auction if sold"
It's your item and you can do what you want.
Relist if buyer doesn't turn up with cash.
