BT or Virgin broadband

Just looking for a good internet provider that has high speed broad with unlimited usage. I can get both in my local area although I believe the new flat we are moving into already has Virgin installed.

I had virgin for 8 years and was happy with it,only moved because I got a better deal with EE.

If both packages are the same I would opt for Virgin as their customer service in my experience better than my contacts with BT.

But if one is cheaper than the other (my guess it's Virgin) I would go with that one.

BT uses fibre optic technology, while Virgin uses coaxial cable so you'll get a faster ping with BT - great if anyone in your home is a gamer.

Not stricktly true.VM is Fibre up to the street mux & d.a which is the main box that all phone & tv connections in your area route back to.From there it's copper distribution cable to your d.p where your home connects into,then it's copper coaxial cable from then on,the broadband served over the same line & equipment as the TV.
With BT,it's fibre to the DP which is next to your existing street cabinet & then twisted copper pair telephony cable to your master socket as before.

Both packages offer good deals and both are pretty god speedwise etc, just depends which one is right for you, sorry i can't be more help!

Don't you still need to pay for landline phone service with BT regardless whether it's adsl or fibre? VM cable broadband on its own will be cheaper.

Just because Virgin cable doesn't need a phoneline doesn't mean it is always cheaper, I'm on a landline with BB for £16.50, Virgins cable is around £22.50.
