He owes me money but won't pay up!!!!!

Your relationship is over - and sadly, I'm afraid that you have absolutely chance of recovering what he owes you. You could try taking him to the small claims court, but if he didn't accept responsibility for half the bills whilst you were together, then the chances that he repays it now are nil.

I think this is the time that you just have to write the debt off as well as the relationship. Walk away, and walk on with the rest of your life.

I had this with my ex. I realised that there was little I could do so I played canny. We put the house on the market and I said something like 'look, you owe me around £20k for the money you haven't put in to the mortgage, etc for the past few years. Rather than it getting messy, how about you give me £10k more than you get of the equity and we call it quits?'

He wasnt the sharpest tool in the box, and thought he was getting a good deal. No, it wasn't what I had paid in, but it was something. Sometimes you have to take what you can get.
