I applied for the capital one aqua card is it worth appeal against my declined decision?
I know I have a low credit score and a default on my credit report but I have had car finance and paid that in full for the past 4 years not missing a payment also I've had a phone contract for maybe four five years and not missed any payments on that!
Is it worth it?
Will they just refuse me again?
The default is mine but not because of me it's an ex that promised to pay and didn't so I got left with the bill!

One of these Aqua cards?......aqua (which is supplied by capital one)

If so, they're not supplied by Capital One. They even take applicants with CCJs so your 2 year old default shouldn't concern them too much. So something else must be spooking them...
What do your credit files say about you? Have you checked for any further 'damage'?
How much do you earn?
Total debt?
Home owner or tenant?
On Electoral Roll?
Time at address?
Number of addresses in last 3 years? And on the Electoral Roll at each of them?
Time with employer?
Are you financially associated (still) with your ex, or anyone else?0 -
They don't say nothing about me been in regular employment for 7 years same employer two addresses in last 5 years both electroll roll nothing that I can think that goes against me
Which is why I ask should i appeal?0 -
Well an appeal letter needs to tell them something they don't already know from your application form and their credit search.
Is there anything you feel you could provide (over and above what you've provided here) that would aid an appeal and overturn the rejection?
How about asking your bank (the one that receives your salary) for a credit card, rather than potentially waste another credit search with Aqua? After all, they know more about your financial affairs than anybody else does.0 -

OP has tried that and got knocked back: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4289063.
They've also been accepted for a Vanquis card: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4290349.
I suspect there's something nasty sitting on their credit report that we haven't been told about. Anyway, the Vanquis card is a good start. Just spend and repay and things will probably improve. It'll just take time.0
