What to do with half an egg

Hi

I like to use an egg wash when making pastry but never use all of it, instead of wasting the remaining egg how can I keep it until I can add it to something or what can I do with half an egg?

Fry it and eat it...or what I usually do mix it with a bit of milk and put it a covered bowl in the microwave and cook it for a short time. I wouldn't try keeping it for another day. If you don't want it then I'd just throw it. It's only 5 pence worth of egg. It's not worth the risk.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Fry it and slap it on the half slice of bread.

  • Tbh If I'm cooking I chuck in the leftover egg but if I wasnt cooking id dump it as its not worth the risk.

Another vote for Eggy Bread from me
  • Try egg-frying a little rice. Makes people feel special and it's easy-peasy. Just make sure the oil is hot, first add the cooked rice, then the egg and stir lots.

Oh, and watch for over-cooking the rice before frying or you'll end up with odd cake-made-of-rice consistency beast.

Make a tiny microwave cup cake :) mix an ounce each of butter and sugar add your half egg and an ounce of self raising flour and a tiny bit of baking powder if it's a small egg. Few drops of milk if dry, microwave for 30 seconds at a time until cooked. You could put jam in the cup before you cook it :)

It isn't an answer to your question, but would you consider using a couple of spoonfulls of milk as a wash rather than an egg?

I`d slap it on my face as a facemask works a treat.
