I put a carton of milk in the freezer yesterday morning, sell by date today. When i looked a few minutes ago it is a yellow colour. Is this normal or should i just throw it away? Thanks in advance.
FS
Yes, that's totally normal! Not sure why though.
A £2.60 spend for me.
FINALLY, my ultimate guilty comfort food, Fray Bentos steak and kidney pies, were on special offer 2 for £3. So bought 4 of them. I've tried the Princes brand ones, which are often on special offer, but they just aren't the same. Has to be Fray Bentos for me! I've been checking on them every week for what seems like months, for them to be on special.
The £6 I spent on them comes out of my 2nd purse savings, so I don't count it as part of the grocery budget.
Shouldn't need to go to the supermarket again until Thurs/Fri, all being well.Because it's fun to have money!

Oh dear wish I hadn't seen that but glad I did TY just added to my Mr T order for tomorrow - have not seen the dark chocolate ones anywhere and I love them! 3 added :j
Was hoping for a NSD yesterday but being at work wasn't that easy lol (I work in a supermarket so get to see all the whoopsies!) Anyway I bought a whoopsie for my freezer - melt in the middle chocolate puddings 2 pack for 40p!
Hoping today will be a NSD as I really don't need anything, I think..... saying that DS might need blue milk.
Total for last week = £54.94 just over but not too bad.Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

OK have just totted up my various spendings over the last few days....took a while as had to separate groceries from other things on my receipts! Spent £48.49 on groceries, including quite a bit of meat and fish. Now should have fairly minimal spends the next 2 weeks, as I have no kitchen! Have cooked lots and lots of food and put in the freezer. Need a quick trip to Asda tonight to get a few bits for lunches and some coffee and fingers crossed, other than milk we shouldn't need much more until the big Christmas shop! Currently over £100 left of the budget so looking good.
BUT I haven't factored meals out into the budget with Christmas parties etc coming up I'm not going to count them. From January I will be counting absolutely everything so might get tougher!Kitchen Debt - 2820/260Save £12k in 2013 #060: 1293.24/3000MFW: 88760.00/85000.00 (4.24% paid)0 -

Ahem yeah lol well we did indeed need milk and then when I thought about it we needed other stuff too.
Milk and bananas for DS, Celery for chicken stock, Satsumas and pasta, then realised needed to bulk my pasta out a bit at lunch so red pepper and mushrooms. Oh and got some meringue shells to go with some frozen fruit for pudding, that one was a "want"So spent £7.16 in A$da. Have £25 left plus some nectar points to last me until 27th - Am really hoping that we will have enough supplies in to last us now until 27th other than milk, bread and veg!

A quick question for anyone who uses Iceland as I haven't used the shop in years and I have some vouchers to use. Would it be worth using these to stock up on joints and mince for future use and are there any particular products you would recommend?
We've not tried their mince as we buy ours from Makro but we do like the ready to roast/cook meats. We are big gammon fans and their £3.50 one does the pair of us 2 meals (each) so works out well for us. I also find Iceland really good for eggs, squash and pop if we are having any (rare nowadays).
I will officially be joining the grocery challenge again from January 1st! :T************************************

I shop in Iceland, I buy milk which I freeze, bread/rolls which I freeze, their fresh meat, mince, chicken/breast, braising steak are all lovely, I havent bought any of their frozen joints. I buy chocolate biscuits for pack ups, usually cheaper or more in a packet than the Asda I use, my son loves Galaxy hot choc which is only £2, in Asda its just under £3. There always seems to be crisps on special offer too. They have a reward card, thorughout the year they send vouchers in the post and at the moment vouchers are printed off the till with receipts, so sign up for one. Theyre deffinitely worth checking out.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0
