Cheapest Windows 7

Anyone know who is currently the lowest price for Windows 7 Home Premium?

I'm wanting to upgrade my trusty Netbook from Windows XP. Which I can't re-install as it has no optical drive and every time I try with a USB drive it always fails.

I have been looking for W7 too as I also want to update my wife's netbook from XP. The cheapest I have seen is on eBay, it seems to go for about £45 - £50. If anyone has seen it cheaper I would be very interested to hear about it!

Are you getting errors when installing?

Yes, files fail to copy over etc. Or if not that, I get stuck in a reboot loop with it trying to boot of USB again.

Edit: I'm only wanting to upgrade/re-install XP because I had to replace the failed hard drive.

I've already successfully installed a (non legit) copy of Windows 7 to test but I'd rather have a legit copy for the long term use.

How did you put the files on the USB stick?

If you are, or know some one that is a student. Check out https://www.software4students.co.uk.

    Usually cheap.

Using a "Win2USB" type boot utility.

    Don't know any.

Found Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit OEM on eBay for £49.99. Cheapest so far.
  • So what you are looking for is a legal product key.
Do you have any friends that may have gone from Win 7 to 8 who may be willing to let you try their Win 7.

    Win Pro for £39.99 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Microsoft-Windows-7-Professional-SP1-32bit-DVD-COA-licence-key-Pro-/160924380820?pt=UK_Computing_Software_Software_SR&hash=item2577d72e94

COA licence Certificate of Authenticity.. If you think it's genuine then go for it and it even gives you the option to make a offer.
I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

You may be able to find it cheaper at a local computer fair if you have one nearby.

    Brand and model number?

You can buy an optical drive for £10.
