Can people who understand web page design & loading have a look at this.

I had another look at saving ebay web page listings.

    1) If I save page as HTM only in IE, when I view saved page I only see the listing Description, not other listing information (eg seller, sale date, sale price).

    2) If I view Source text of original page in IE, I can see ALL listing information, which is not present in the saved HTM page in (1) (eg seller, sale date, sale price).

    3) If I change file extension on Source text file from .TXT to .HTM

If I open this source file again now as a web page, it only displays the listing Description as in (1) and does not display other core listing information (eg seller, sale date, sale price), even though this information is in the file.

How can I edit the Source text file to display everything as a .HTM web page file ??

    Thanks

I'm going to stick my neck out and suggest that you have something in IE stopping what you're trying to achieve.

Have you tried using an alternative browser?

I've just opened a list of motherboards in both IE and Palemoon, then using File/Save As, have saved both to the desktop as htm.

Palemoon was one file of 100KB, whilst IE was a file+folder adding up to 2.9MB.

Both opened exactly the same as the original page, using Palemoon.

Repeated the experiment with an individual listing, same result.

    Now the interesting part.

When I tried to open the Palemoon saved file with IE, I initially got a message about blocked scripts and ActivX, allowed that, and it showed correctly.

I then opened the IE saved htm. file using right click, select IE, and the page came up with the the picture, the seller and some details at the bottom, but the bid boxes, end date/time and postage details were missing.

So I'd suggest using an alternative browser, it's handy to have one to fall back on, especially in cases like this.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    I think you're right.

I've just tested with Google Chrome & saved web pages & saved Source text opened as web page, are opening ok.

I thought I had tested with Chrome before.

Admittedly I am using IE7 to save & view pages, so it must be IE browser version I'm using that is not viewing Saved pages correctly.

    Thanks

Whatever it's doing, IE7 is grossly outdated, being released over 6 years ago.
It's well past the time to get rid of it.
