Because without giving a course in quantum mechanics it will just go round in circles. And we are talking about a very small number, so small a 8-bit calculator will still say 100% due to rounding errors but it is still not correct in terms of .
Yes, when Kelvin aid they just needed to get the significant figures in 1900! Since then Newtonian physics has been proven to be increasingly a generalisation.
When I quoted phase change you replied that was only in change of phase from one state to another (Solid/liquid/gas/plasma)....
I was talking about Phase change in Hilbert space due to the changing of wavelengths....
Indeed most of this centres around the wave function ... and for want of a better source...

"The wave function is central to quantum mechanics, because it is a fundamental postulate of quantum mechanics. It is the source of the mysterious consequences and philosophical difficulties in the interpretations of quantum mechanics—topics that continue to be debated even today."
That's why I don't want to go into it.....
..... especially because .......

One good bit of advice I received once was, when in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
Do you mind me asking where you usually give the quantum mechanics course? And also what that has to do with a fan heater not being 100% efficient because it puts some energy into moving air?0 -
Steve-L,
Please don't insult our inteligence by coming out with bul***** -
Your post#11 about fans reducing efficiency of a heater, halogen heaters and black body etc, was just nonsense and demonstrated physics is just not your field.
Surely enough people have pointed that out to you.
Clearly not yet sufficient people, the problem with 'copy & paste' armchair Stephen Hawking's is like that same one with people who learn a babel fish phrase, and then learn it fluently, and then learn to pronounce it in the local dialect, and then they smilingly and fluently say :-
möchten Sie eine Tasse Kaffee - A cup of coffee please ? and then the waiter asks if the want süß with it, they're snookered when you ask a supplementary question like would you like sugar with it.0 -
I concur, and 'Rydw i'n hoffi coffi'.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

All the preceding banter about the science involved made me laugh... I almost forgot that I was looking for !:rotfl:
Four my fourpenneth those Dyson heater seem pricey !0
