new gas supply cost, please help me !!

ok things may have changed slightly since i worked in this field but heres a break down and your options.

if you live in a domestic property and will require a domestic U6 meter, is not listed, and your supply with have to go no further than 20 meters of private land and 23 meters of public then you can have a standard cost quotation usually.

Fulcrum connections do the work for transco and they have subcontractors too.

If you are in a situation like this one where transco's gas mains is outside of standard distance the reason it costs so much is that gas is low pressure and a main needs to be brought in to keep the pressure up to your property and the cost substancial. No point asking transco for a break down as its vague.

There are other posibilities though.

Infill:as you know this is where you and your neighbours share the cost of bringing a main in. the price is fixed on that main then so that the one neighbour who doesnt chip in cant get it for a lower price later.
IPGT: There are Independant Public Gas Transporters and in areas where there is little gas it might be worth checking that the main in your street wasnt installed by someone else. It not likely however as transco install 99% of all pipework.
Also if there are lots of houses in that area without gas and you can prove interest the council have been known to pay for a main. but they wont do it for a hand full of you.
