Postage: what can be included ?

Probably not the best heading but can someone point me in the right direction.

I purchased an item 99p start, with only 1 other bidder they must have bid the 99p. The postage was £5.75, actually cost £2.20 sent in a reused bag (that doesn't bother me).

The only reason I purchased with that amount of postage was they had the postage set delivered from outside UK. Infact it came from inside the UK

I've emailed them stating I wasn't happy with being overcharged by £3.55 (didn't ask for a refund) and got a reply back saying they had traveling to do to get to the post office and I should not be complaining about getting my item for under £7.

I've looked though ebay and this forum but cannot find anything that says what is included in postage costs. I'd like to be sure before I email back. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

Leave them feedback which reflects your opinions on postage. Personally, even allowing for a margin that is way too high. I would be leaving a 1/2 for postage even if I left a positive for the item.

I don't know - what do Argos, Tesco and M&S do? Oh yes, anything they want cos its the total that matters, and we don't know what they pay for it anyway.

I would ask you to return it (at your cost) for a refund.

Why bid if you don't like the price??????

I don't care what Argos etc charge I didn't ask about them. I asked about a private seller on ebay who is obviously avoiding paying ebay fees.

I bid on the item on the understanding that the postage costs were from outside the UK.

In this instance I think that the total selling price inc p+p isn't relevant.

The seller out and out lied stating it was sent from outside the UK and such a large overcharge - over 150% isn't fair and as well as marking the seller down stars or even a neutral if you felt so inclined I'd contact ebay about the over charge.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

That would result in very low stars from me- it is a foolish seller who believes they can charge what they want and buyers just pay up and leave 5* regardless.

I'd be googling their address and the nearest post office to them and pricing up fuel - unless they live out in the sticks miles from any post office, I'd be rather miffed. Then telling them that I'd done the googling, and then leave low feedback.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I wouldn't bother- I really don't care about the fuel costs.

I always thought, actual postage price plus about 50p to £1 was / would be fair.

I would be leaving 1 postage star.

I would. Because I'm like that.

Did I mention I use a cab to take eaach individual item to the post office , one at a time and that costs me £8 return?

Seriously though, how can a buyer tell what costs a seller has incurred- for all we know seller passes PO every day on their way to work, or maybe even takes the works post there on his way home at night..
