Credit card statements being sent to my old address!!

  • When i saw the title i guessed it would be Vanquis, as i had a similar problem.

I had the card for a while, then moved house. Changed all my other accounts, but Vanquis refused until i could send them proof of address. I waited a few weeks until i got my bank statement through, as this is the only thing i don't have paperless.

Took a copy and sent it to them and didn't hear back. By this time i'd paid the card off and was actually in credit by £3 as i guessed how much balance was.

I still hadn't received any statements, so gave them a call, to be told that they received my proof of address, but couldn't accept it as it was a copy.

I didn't need the card, so told them to cancel it, but was told that they couldn't as it had a positive balance, and i had to spend it. Told them i couldn't as i had cut up the card, only for them to say they would send me a new one. It got more ridiculous when i asked where they would be sending the card to, and they said my old address.

I ended up telling them to keep the £3 and close the account, which they eventually agreed to. Would never use them again, and luckily have no need to!

I'm puzzled as to why the OP requested the card so close to moving house?

Whenever I've moved house before, I've had far more to think about prior to the moving date than applying for a credit card.

You could have asked for your balance before making a payment, surely? I've done this in the past to confirm the balance before payment when I've not been able to see my statement (out of the country)
