But, every overpayment helps that bit more doesn't it? So I should be patting myself on the back every one I do make instead I suppose :)

    Yup & definitely! :D

Are you concentrating on one at a time or trying to pay a bit more to all of them each month?

You can dismiss this totally but you could have something with the OPs showing in your sig .... or % paid ..... might make you feel you're making progress if you can see these?

    Dad: £1000 / £20000 5% paid
    or
    Dad: £1000 / £20000 OP £500
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

Just an uber quick flying visit to show Mr Shortie the snowballing plans, but I have something in my sig already (though I think I need to update it) or did you mean something else? :)

Argh, I can't sleep. I'm not even slightly tired :( (haha... before I press 'Submit Reply' - now I've done all that waffling, I'm getting tired :rotfl:)

Sorry Rising, back to your question earlier - planning to pay extra off one, and start (as I haven't yet, whoops) the other, so both at the same time :)

What a mixed day - the laminate flooring downstairs is nearly finished and looks lovely, however we have discovered a leaky radiator valve by the front door. We think the seal is perished as we can't turn it off to stop it. Seeing as I have the expense next week of the LPG gas being fitted, I could have done without it this week. Bottoms. Oh and the last tropical fish died today which is sad, but means we can finally look at selling the tank and stand (and I wonder how much energy reduction will be on the energy consuption reading for the heater and the pump/filter)

Popped to my Mum and Dad's tonight to snaffle some underlay boards to finish of the flooring in the hallway and grabbed sausage in batter and chips on the way - very naughty (£12 for the 4 of us) but definately much faniced

We also popped to Mr Ts as it's near to my parent's house. We used their 'Scan and Pack' service and I must say I really quite like it - a much more precise way to work out what you're spending as you go along.

We picked up loads of reduced veg there - plenty of reduced potaotes to do jacket spuds as one of the foods at the house warming next weekend plus more jacket spuds for week day meals at home, reduced fresh toms to make some pasta sauce, stocked up on milk and bread for the freezer, some nibbles for the house warming.. Also picked up 2 reduced (10p, lol) coconuts. My eldest used to love it so I took a chance on buying them (they stayed at my folks' while we shopped). Heck knows what we'll do if he doesn't want to eat it as I don't like coconut and my youngest probably won't. I can't see Mr Shortie muching on coconut either :rotfl: I was wondering how long the milk would store, and if I could otherwise grate the flesh to dry it out and have it in for cake toppings for other people..?

Oh and I also bought a bag of reduced carrots not realising how many we already had in whoops!

So tomorrow is the day to finish off the flooring, try and book a plumber for the leaky radiator (and to look at the one in my youngest's bedroom as it stopped heating up a week after we moved in, sigh..), put the Christmas tree up, and as I don't like the tree decorating ceremony, I'll busy myself in the kitchen making dinner (bolognaise), pasta sauce and some kind of carrot soup while the boys have fun with the tree, and get cracking on cleaning the kitchen while it's simmering away

Oh and on a forward thinking note, I picked up a couple of tins of Mr T value tomato soup for work. On the times when there are no dinner leftovers, I tend to get stuck for lunch the next day (I'm not a huge fan of sandwiches) and end up buying food near my office in central London which stings. So, I now have a back up of a couple of soups which will hopefully help out when I'm stuck!

It is always handy to have emergency supplies to hand, I tend to take porridge and nuts, but I think that's more cause I'm nightshift tbh

I'm hoping the emergency supplies will stop the 'ah, nothing/no inspiration for lunch in work, and I can then have soup to stop my buying food in for lunch. Or that's the plan anyway!

Managed to use up the reduced bits today, plus loads of peppers (sold a while back by the box full at a market stall) and the rest of my allotment onions that were starting to soften. Bolognaise was planned for dinner today, so 350g mince made bolognaise for the 4 of us, plus a little bit left mixed with the left over pasta for lunch tomorrow. I pulled some aside before reheating at dinner time, added a tin of Mr T value baked beans, a tin of Mr T value kidney beans and a bit of chilli powder, added the mix to 4 wraps in an oven dish topped with some pasta sauce and grated cheese, et voila - enchilladas for tomorrow with rice :)

Also made a humoungous vat of pasta sauce with the tomatoes, carrots, softening fridge peppers, onions and some mixed herbs which we can freeze tomorrow.

Oh, and I found we had loads of bread ends and a random assortment of unfinished loaves (sigh) so I made a batch (2 trays worth) of bread pudding.

Feels like quite a productive day, and I've been missing spending time 'creating' stuff in the kitchen :) We are having the LPG piped next week meaning we can get our range cooker in the kitchen and stop cooking on the old, last-legs cooker and have a gas hob top again instead of electric - woo hoo!

They are aren't they? And I think it's true what they say that if you don't put the love into the cooking, it doesn't come out right - even using the same ingredients and recipe. Used to do all this kind of thing when I was tired and I would fight it and I wouldn't be happy with the outcome, however yesterday I woke up in the right mood to use the food up and I had a happy natural flow which was excellent :D

I'm exhausted and in work so I can't sleep (or at least, not without being noticed, lol) but the problem is that when I get THIS tired, my brain strips away most daily stuff and just functions. Which is when stuff creeps in that I've been trying to avoid thinking about

Today, my brain is picking on my Mini. I have 2 cars - my station / everything under the sun car, and the treat I bought myself with some of my redundancy money earlier this year. I've always wanted a Mini and so I indulged. She needed mechanical work which has now been done, but since buying her in April I've driven her to the mechanics and Mr Shortie drove her back for me around 4 weeks ago. She couldn't ever be a station car in teh old house as she would have been stolen and I've realised she can't be one here as I parked slanted up a grassy bank at the station (we all do) and she's too low to make it and not get grounded.... I can't see when I'll drive her any more so she becomes a museum piece which isn't what I bought her for. If I wanted that, I can just go to Mini shows etc

It's not even a financial decision this one - yes I won't have 2 road taxes, MOTs and insurances to pay for, and I will get some money back for her if she sold. This is a not nice decision/realisation from the heart :(

Yes, I could decide to not sell her, but I'm sat here pooped and convincing myself I'd be silly to keep her

  • ohhh poor you.

it does sound like it would be a sensible decision but can tell it would be a really hard one for you to make.
