Take keyboard, unplug and use paintbrush and brush dust out between keys.
(Might as well do this while you are at it lol.)

Turn over and place on table with a book either end so keys are not depressed.

Unscrew all screws (about 8+) and put them in a saucer or some similar container.
Split keyboard and put the base aside.
Unscrew the smaller internals screws (about 15+)and put in another container.
remove the hard covering and membrance, dust the membrane down and do not touch the key positions with your fingers. (Acid in your sweat can cause problems later on).

Pick the nipple (There is a technical term for them but I cannot remember it, tactile somethingorother) from an unused key and put it where one is missing. They are the same size etc.

    re assemble.

Plug into PC, start notepad.exe (or similar) and start typing every key and you should see them being typed.

Job done, nothing spent except 10 minutes of your time.

Question is, why is the nipple missing in the first place?

They key to the left of the F1 key - have you ever used it?
I cannot remember ever using it, so I would go for this one.

That is "Esc" on my Acer laptop keyboard and I use it regularly.

"Pause Break" is the only key on mine that I can't remember ever using.

Sorry - I meant the key to the left of the no1 key.
    ¬ `

I cannot remember using them - ever.
Pause/break can be used a lot on a std keyboard as a quick way (when used with the windows key) to get to the system page.

Scroll lock is another key little used.
    F11/F12 etc.

If the keys are dirty take a photo, remove the keys - put them in a sock & tie the end, drop in with the next wash. :
