Speak to your mortgage company they usually give you a breathing space regarding the mortgage for a few months.
Also one day of going to all local agencies is worth doing as short term you can take a temp job while looking for permanent work - which is better to find by applying directly to employers on their website etc0 -

Now to address the other thing in your OP which worried me. You sounded as if you were about to take a consolidation loan. Get on to the debt free wannabe board for news of why this isn't such a great idea, and work towards paying off your CCs.
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
mumofjusttwo - thanks!

chocomonster - Still working in retail, but as a store manager instead of my previous roles as an area manager. Quite a step down in salary, but not as much of a step as jobseekers!
debtclearer - thanks! Probably the worst 10 days Ive ever had in my life though - glad its over!
jobbingmusician - be assured Ive had a strong word with myself and am working out ways to pay things off!
Just got my start date, so cannot wait to call the jobcentre and tell them I will not be setting foot back in there!! :j0
