I must admit people do buy some bizarre things on ebay, okay this isn't quite so bizarre but it is odd that you would pay so much unless you had made a mistake or not read the listing just looked at the picture, some people do!!

I once watched a cherry pip, yes, just a cherry pip, in a matchbox full of cotton wool 'it's bed' listed with a diary of its activities for 30 days prior to listing sell for in excess of £200. It was just a spat out cherry pip with a story. What value does it hold to anyone? Nothing, at all! It wasn't even like it was a celebrities air, or britneys pregnancy test as has also been sold for ridiculous amounts of money on ebay before..

It seems this business seller is also rather coy about their address:

There's a street name, but a house number is lacking...

Is an incomplete/inaccurate business seller's address ok with eBay? If so, it seems rather pointless having to state a business address at all!

and he has a different address linked to the other item he's selling...

Well done to those who reported the listing and Ebay for showing common sense.

That one about the cherry pip was very odd. I'd love to hear which other strange auctions people have seen. The oddest one I had heard before that was a broken gameboy that had been dropped down the loo. Yuck.

I'm sorry but any buyer that can ignore the auction description that states:

I Pad 2 16GB box - this auction is for the BOX ONLY- i pad is not included BOX ONLY !!BOX ONLY - NO I PAD

and still believe this is an ipad should not be able to hold a buying account.

I see where you are coming from, but this listing was deceptive and I'm not sure why the seller would want to be so vague, since buyers are well protected on ebay, just wasting everybody's time.

Out of interest, what was deceptive and vague about it?

Vague? two lines of text with the 'this is only a box- no ipad' highlighted three times?

I am always surprised that we do still get threads where buyers have not read a listing- but to ignore every single written word does rather presume the buyer is being fast and loose with their money. If buyers miss all that then it would seem that we sellers could happily write 'this is a scam and I am going to steal your money' over the listing and buyers still feel hard done by.

Although this was an empty box the seller had included, in the listing, the i pad specifics from the autofill for an i pad (hope that makes sense)
