I buy or make a new tree decoration every year. My tree is a mish mash of colours, shapes & styles, but that's how we like it. Most of the decorations hold memories from past Christmases and I even have a plastic bell with a rabbit handle that was on my Grandad & Nanny's tree when I was a child. It must be over 50 or 60 years old and looks a bit faded, but I wouldn't part with it for the world. :)

I have two decorations that my Mum cross-stitched years ago and some crocheted and knitted decorations made by my aunt about 40 years ago. My 4 adult children examine my tree thoroughly to make sure all their favourite decorations have been hung on the tree and there is trouble if they notice any missing!:rotfl:

My daughters both have decorations from this house on their trees because they say they are part of their childhood. D-i-L likes a minimalist tree, so elder son has to come here for his childhood memories fix.;) Younger son still lives at home, but still puts up his small tree & decorations he had from his childhood in his room!

Mine is a mish mash of colours and shapes, and I can remember where nearly every single one came from, holidays and travels, gifts from long a go friends, i love them all. I buy one new one each year, it has to be something that i love on sight. I love all the memories that they bring back, i have several Bassett hound ornaments and this is the first Christmas that i haven't got my actual hound (she died in the summer). We put our tree up yesterday and it was bitter sweet hanging up the ones that look like her.

  • I would love to buy new decs and have them all matching, but hubby likes having a mish mash of colours and tinsel!

We bought these when we got together 11 years ago and as he usually decorates the tree I can't really complain, my mother on the other hand is always buying new decs, lights the lot even though she never gets rid of what she has and hasn't the room to store them all

We only have a tree up, I can't stand all that dangling from the ceiling carp. The first (and only) year I was with my ex husband he put up the tree up while my kids and I were out (family tradition to do it together) and covered the living room in tinsel and hangy stuff  I could have died.
We have a different colour theme each year but mix in special ornaments.
We buy a new special one every year :)

we have an eclectic mix of christmas decorations and each year we buy one special one which works out cheaper than buying cheap ones every few years when they break . Unfortunately the lovely crystal trees we bought in Estonia are now deceased & it's a bit pricey to go back now hubby's not a travel agent

  • Mine is a complete mis-mash. My collection grows every year (usually in the sales). I've got glass ones, plastic, wooden ones my nan used, photo baubles of different pets and even some of my old toys that are small enough to hang on the tree.

I haven't got my tree up yet, but they're waiting in the loft wrapped in old odd socks!!!

I am so glad to see that not the only sentimental one around here :D

I have just been sorting out some ideas for crocheting little decorations for my monsters for this year :D

This year I would love a vintage tree, wish my mum had kept all the baubles from 40 odd years ago.

When I moved in with my Hubby 15 Christmas's ago I bought decorations then I bought red and gold baubles and sat there for ages putting ribbon on the them to hang on the tree, every year I probably add a few bits I love remembering when and where I bought them x
