Mortgage Introducer and Mortgage Strategy are a good start - they are free but you can only get a copy if you are FSA registered. I could send you mine when I have read them if you want? (sometimes I rip out articles for my CPD though)

  • Do I actually get an FSA registration number of my own? Or is it just through the Company?

when a subscription form asks for an FSA number, its usually just the firms number.

Sole trading broker advisers don't get a individual FSA reference ( just a firm reference) but Investment advisers do , as do certain individuals ( ie directors/ controlled functions of certain firms / Appointed reps )

  • That's great! Thanks!

I can use my Company number then, since I am an Appointed Representative - or I will be, shortly!

You would have to ask their permission first. Its best to wait until you have passed the referencing induction and fit and proper tests but in the meantime I can PM you some good internet sites you can look at?

She is not going to be an AR firm in her own right, she will be working underneath an existing AR firm of a network

They have appointed me as a Mortgage Adviser - I have that in writing.

They have done the credit checks, etc, apparently, through the network. They haven't written to my two referees - but these are character references, not employment, since I have always been self-employed. They got my letter of reference from the Inland Revenue, since I requested that from the IR - to prove my self-employment.

Just have to do the Induction Week!

On the magazine subscription pages online it asks about the Company I will be working for etc. and if I have passed my CeMap. I have completed them, see what happens.

Different networks have different approaches on this. Some want you to use your own firm's reference number. Others want you to use the network number.

You can end up with three numbers. Self, your company and principle (network)
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

I remember being baffled by this when I first qualified! Its nice to see we are all pulling together and giving shameless as much help and support as we can, shows what a nice giving bunch we truly are.
