Is my warranty void?

Hi, so here's the story...
When I first got my phone 7 months ago I dropped it no more than a few inches onto the radiator and it caused my phone to have a chip in the plastic, nothing more than simple cosmetic damage. Not long after that the phone started displaying voltage errors. I sent my phone off to Virgin for it to be repaired fearing the drop had broken it, however they repaired the phone without question and sent it back to me and said the damage was cosmetic and had not caused the damage.
But that is history now...
A couple of weeks ago I was sat at work using my phone as normal and suddenly it rebooted for no apparent reason and when it came back on it said it was not registered on the network, so once again I had my phone sent off for repair. Now they have come back to me and told me the warranty is void because my phone has been dropped or crushed and as a result the radio component has come loose, they are also claiming that the chip I previously mentioned is proof of this...even though it has been months between the chip and the fault.
They have told me that if I wish to dispute the matter I must send my phone to Samsung to have them give a second opinion, however someone once told me that if you send your phone to the manufacturer then the people who sold you it no longer have to honour their warranty and instead you have to deal with the manufacturer. They have also told me that I cannot have anyone but Samsung look at the phone for a second opinion with breaching the warranty of having the phone opened up by unlicensed people.
Where do I stand, do I have any ground at all or do I have to take this as it is and back down?

Take it up with Samsung, that's your best bet and there is no messing about with the retailer givign you rubbish text.
Its a lot quicker.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Your legal rights are with the retailer who sold you the phone. Any problems within the first 6 months will be deemed defective from supply unless the retailer proves otherwise. After that it is down to you to prove that any fault not down you.
If you are not happy with the retailers opinion that I would suggest taking the phone to a reputable phone repairer and ask them to give you a report.
If the report suggest that any fault to the phone was not caused by your negligence then you should be successful with any argument against the supplier of the the phone.
You could send it off the manufacturer but there is a fair chance that they will say the problem was you negligence to get out dealing under the warranty especially if they discuss the matter with the supplier.0
